His to Protect by Paris Brandon

I’d like to thank my good buddy, Francesca Hawley for inviting me to announce my new release on her blog today! Francesca and I became friends several years ago when we participated in a writing challenge and had so much fun that we kept the challenge open after the deadline had passed. We both finished our manuscripts and eventually sold them but not before agreeing to become critique partners. We butt heads occasionally but always end up respecting each other’s opinions. I value her friendship, her advice and our crazy Sunday night phone calls!

I’m thrilled to begin 2017 with a new release on January 13, from Decadent Publishing. His to Protect, is part of the Black Hills Wolves series, and is a sensual story of courage, strength and the undeniable desire to belong. If you like your wolf shifters hot and protective and your heroines strong and determined, this just might be a story you’d enjoy!

Blurb:

A resentful pack, a suspicious alpha and a looming threat …

After ten long years, desperation has forced Luna Sinclair back to Los Lobos but nothing in her experience has prepared her for the heat that Pack Protector, Gunnar Redmond unleashes. Her wolf is clawing to break free and run straight for the hulking beast but what wolf in their right mind would want to be tied to her family tree?
Not everyone is happy about welcoming the daughter of one of the old alpha’s henchmen, home. Old wounds and secrets are exposed and to make matters worse, Drew Tao, the new alpha has reason to suspect that she might have revealed the packs most closely guarded secret when she escaped the crazed survivalist that had been keeping her prisoner.
None of that matters to Gunnar. He’s known Luna was his mate since finding her naked and shivering on pack land and he’ll do anything to keep her. With their wolves clawing to mate and danger closing in, anyone who wants to hurt her will have to go through him first.

Excerpt:

Gunnar Redmond’s blood still raced from his morning run, and the female’s musky scent hit him doubly hard. The haggard white wolf had been running in a straight line since she’d hit the perimeter a few minutes ago. Nothing ran that hard unless something chased it, and he didn’t see or smell anything following her. Too soon to call a warning for something he could probably handle himself, the pack protector kept well behind his quarry. The third time she stumbled, his wolf reached for her, nearly stopping him in his tracks.
The urge to catch her before she fell surprised him. He breathed in her scent once more, finding her human nature had become much stronger and stank of a fear so fierce it permeated the crisp autumn air. She’d transformed. The scent grew stronger. His quarry had stopped, perhaps to get her bearings.
Every wolf in Los Lobos knew the location of the pack land boundaries.
She was obviously lost and confused.
Downwind and hidden by a small stand of trees, Gunnar crouched on the crest of a small hill. Naked and filthy, twigs and leaves riddled her tangled mess of dark hair that reached past her shoulders. Mud streaked her bare arms and legs. Her thin flanks trembled as she rubbed her hands up and down her arms and looked around. She might not be very tall, but her obvious curves left no doubt she was all woman.
His wolf whined.
If he waited any longer, his wolf was going to behave inappropriately. Knocking her down so he could clean her and show his obvious interest probably wouldn’t win him any points. He stood and unbuttoned his shirt as he walked down the short incline.
The wind shifted, and she lifted her nose, turned, and froze. Her dark eyes widened, and he scented the fear she tried to hide. His size intimidated most, but her gaze had locked on his fingers, still working his shirt buttons free, and it occurred to him what the situation must look like.
Nice going, dumbass.
He let his arms drop and sighed. “Did you know you were trespassing?”
Her shoulders slumped. She stared at him a moment, and her mouth worked in a silent effort that seemed to frustrate her. Finally, her words tumbled like so much static from a radio. “Am I in Los Lobos?”
Gunnar nodded, and a shaky smile quirked one corner of her mouth.
“My name is Luna Sinclair, and I beg sanctuary.”
He stripped off his shirt with a little more force than necessary and handed it to her before turning to give her some privacy. And so she couldn’t see his face. “Are you Ed Sinclair’s daughter?” He hadn’t meant to snap.
“Yes.” She delivered the one succinct word in the same brusque tone he’d used. She didn’t sound happy about relaying the information.
“The alpha will want to see you.” He turned around. Why did he and his wolf always choose the most difficult path to reach any desired destination?

Happy Reading!

Bend Over Cowboy- new release from Paris Brandon

Hey everyone,Today I'd like to welcome my critique partner, Paris Brandon to my blog. She has a great new release from Ellora's Cave titled, Bend Over Cowboy. One lucky commenter today will win their choice of one of the e-books from Paris' backlist. Let the commenting begin and good luck to all. I can vouch that all of Paris' books are awesome!

Short, Sweet and Sexy!

How can I possibly call a story that involves strap-on sex, sweet?

Perhaps I view the world a little differently but I believe that hot sex in a relationship can be sweet and funny. I’m a big fan of the “What if?” question. I’ve always loved a story where two consenting adults were having fun while exploring the boundaries of pleasure. Which is how my newest Ellora’s Cave Quickie, BEND OVER, COWBOY made its way from my quirky little brain onto the page.
If you enjoy short stories with a healthy dose of romance, hot sex and mutual respect have a peek at the excerpt and leave me a comment and I’ll choose someone to receive a copy from my backlist:

Cross My Heart…a Night Owl Review 5 Star Top Pick
Head Over Heels/Book One/Red Stilettos…5 Stars, The Romance Studio
Assassin’s Kiss…4 Stars from Romantic Times
No Holds Barred…4 Stars, Just Erotic Romance Reviews
Blurb:

The toss of a coin, a whispered request and some very interesting toys add up to an amorous weekend for an adventurous woman who isn’t afraid of asking for what she wants and a pleasure seeking cowboy that’s finally found a woman who can give as good as she gets!

“You plan on misbehavin’ anytime soon?” he asked, sounding hopeful as hell. His sexy grin made her want to drag him into the nearest dark corner and rub up against him like a cat but she’d just caught Livy’s confused what-the-hell-does-he-see-in-your-big-butt glare.

For someone as astute as the beautiful marketing executive usually was about business, she didn’t have a clue about personal relationships. Livy, with her lithe little cheerleader body and her surgically perfect profile was a trophy hunter and she couldn’t seem to wrap her mind around the fact that Tall didn’t have any interest in being part of her collection.

Bless her heart.

Kitty had had about all this party she could politely stand and she could tell Tall was getting itchy when he reached into his pants pocket.

“I think it’s time for our annual coin toss,” he suggested, pulling out what she knew to be the same quarter he’d used the first time they’d cut and run from Marcy’s annual to-do.

She knew because he kept it on the dresser in his bedroom. “Toss away, cowboy. I call heads,” she said sweetly and watched him flip the coin into the air, catch it and slap it down on the back of his hand.

His lips twitched after he lifted his palm and she knew she’d won again. “You are the luckiest woman alive.”

“Don’t I know it,” she bragged and couldn’t resist winking at him.

She’d been flirting with the idea of how this night was going to end since last summer’s Fourth of July impromptu photo shoot when she’d posed him naked except for his chaps and boots. And that raggedy-ass cowboy hat that was almost as battered as he was after surviving riding bulls and anything else he could get his hands on during his ten-year stint on the rodeo circuit.

She smiled and he looked wary, but as usual, very eager.

“Are you going to tell me what I’m in for or are you just going to smile all night and make me guess?”

She leaned in close and breathed in the sharp tang of his cologne that reminded her of crisp, dry leaves, earthy moss and sun-warmed leather. “I want to take you to bed and not let you out for days. I want to tie you up and watch your face while I take you every way you can imagine and some I hope you haven’t even thought about yet. And I want to strap on the prettiest pink cock you ever saw and fuck your ass until you beg for mercy.”

She watched him swallow hard and try to get his breathing under control while her heart was doing flip-flops. She was so wet she’d almost made herself come just from describing what she wanted to do to him.

He wrapped his arms around her waist and she went into his embrace, enjoying the feel of his just-bordering-on-impolite-grasp and parted her lips for his kiss. His tongue swept inside like a conquering hero while his big hands cupped her ass so hard she knew they’d leave marks. So much for behaving in public.

His mouth telegraphed a desperate need that she tried to match but she’d wanted him under her for so long that she started to shake and finally stopped wondering how his mouth could be so hard and sweet at the same time.

“Always said I wanted a woman who could give as good as she gets,” he whispered after he finally broke the kiss. She almost creamed her panties when she felt the full-body shudder that racked him.

“So you’re up for it?”

“Yeah baby,” he whispered and placed her hand over the erection tenting his pants. He licked his lips and his gaze locked on to hers. “I’m up for it.”

I've Fallen in Love with Josh Lanyon

You should always listen to your critique partner. Or at least I should. I bow to her infinite wisdom. My aforementioned critique partner, Paris Brandon, has been telling me for months…MONTHS…that I should read Josh Lanyon. My reply was always, “I’ve got him on my TBR list. I really do. I’ll get there.”

Well, I finally got there. What does he write? Well, Mr. Lanyon has been writing gay mystery, adventure and romance fiction for over a decade and it shows. Oh wow.

So, I downloaded Josh’s Adrien English mystery series to my Nook Color last week and over the weekend (it was Thursday or Friday night) I opened my first book. It was not the last I opened all weekend. In fact I read all five of the Adrien (with an ‘e’) English series then downloaded the Holmes and Moriarity mystery series too. I finished Somebody Killed His Editor on Sunday night and  All She Wrote on Monday morning. This week I've also read Lone Star, Icecapade and I'm working on This Rough Magic.

Oh. Ma. Gah! They are the best!

Now when I opened the first Adrien book – Fatal Shadows  – I started reading and I groaned. It’s in first person. Generally, I hate reading first person stories. It has nothing to do with an author’s ability or anything else. I just don’t enjoy reading it. I think I finished page one then promptly forgot which “person” the story was being told in. It was that damn good and I was totally hooked.
I loved the voice. I loved the humor. And MAN did I love the characters. I also loved the romance and the sex. Josh writes very hot and deeply emotional stories. So I'm in love with Josh. Well, with his writing anyway. If you've never read a Josh Lanyon book, I highly recommend giving his work a shot. You'll be glad you did.

And you won't have to bow and scrape before your critique partner when she tells you, "I told you so." Yeah, Paris honey. I know you did. Sigh. You were totally right.

Happy Release Day, PARIS BRANDON!

Hi all,
My super wonderful critique partner, Paris Brandon has a new release out today. This is a great story - full of suspense and passion. I had the good fortune to read it before it was released so I know readers will enjoy the fabulous relationship between Val and Jack.

***

Liberal talk show host Valentine Cross’ and police detective Jack Sutton’s ideological differences don’t get in the way of down-and-dirty, up-against-the-wall sex. In a relationship that consists only of sex and fighting, the conflagration seems worth it. Until Jack issues an ultimatum that Val fears will destroy them both.

Six months after walking out of her life because she refused to marry him, Jack receives an assignment that sends him right back into the fire. Val might be hiding his suspect and she’s in danger. Oh yeah, there’s also the little problem of all the mind-blowing sex with his ex getting in the way of solving the crime.

Red Stilettos, Book 1 - Head Over Heels by Paris Brandon

My critique partner, Paris Brandon's release Head Over Heels was the first book in the Red Stilettos series. Her book is available RIGHT NOW! And I can tell you it's a great read!

Check out the blurb and her book trailer!

Bella Jacienski literally falls into sexy philanthropist Rhys Vincent’s arms while wearing her “magic” red stilettos, and wonders if the legend attached to the shoes is true. Has she found her heart’s desire—a passionate, lust-crazed lover who wants only her? Always and forever?

Rhys can’t keep his big hands off the curvy shopkeeper. Her smile captivates him and her lush body has him behaving like a he-man Neanderthal. Heated glances and sizzling touches turn into a hot office interlude and wild, break-the-bed sex that only makes him want her more. Bella is all the magic he needs.

I'm writing again!!

Last week I wrote 10,000 words. In one week. I'm over the moon happy about it too and I have my critique partner, Paris Brandon to thank. Love ya, hon!!!!

I'd gotten stuck on a love scene. It wouldn't go anywhere and I tend to be a very linear writer. A linear pantser - not an easy combo. Well, I was whining and complaining to Paris and she said. "Francesca, why don't you skip the scene and come back to it. You have all of these other scenes in your head. You need to write them down."

Maybe I'm dense, but I'd not really considered skipping a scene before. I had discovered I'd left a scene out and had to go back to add it. But I'd never intentionally said, skip it. I'm moving on for now. And you know what? It worked. I discovered tons of stuff about my characters and the story is moving fast. I'm excited to sit down at my computer again and I love that! I'll keep you posted, because eventually I'll have to go back and insert the skipped scene. At least now, I know the elements that should be in that all-important love scene.
