Tomorrow - Friday, March 20 - I'll be blogging at Seduced by History. Seduced by History is a new blog of the Hearts through History online chapter of RWA. I'll be a regular contributor - blogging on the 20th of the month. I picked the 20th because my birthday is on the 20th. October 20th - but I figured I'd remember 20 because of that. For my first blog there, I'll introduce myself. Then I want to do some research and blog about marriage in the Middle Ages and the concept of Courtly Love. I hope by next month to have enough information to post. We'll see how that goes. ;-)
On Saturday, I'll be adding my weekly contribution to The Otherworld Diner. For the next two weeks we whining. I'm not sure what to whine about really. I guess I'll surprise you...and me. Hope to see you there!

Flash Fiction
Hey guys,
We are doing a fun exercise at The Otherworld Diner this week. We are all taking a turn at writing flash fiction based on some prompts created by our "Day Shift Manager" Jody Wallace. My entry for the week is titled, "Holding Out for a Hero." Let me know if you enjoy it! Post comments here and/or there.

The OtherWorld Diner and Research...

The topic for the week at The OtherWorld Diner is world building. To me good world building is done through research. Researching fiction? Isn't that an oxymoron? Not really. Good fiction starts with truth and to find truth, you need to do research. Arthur D. Little said, "Research serves to make building stones out of stumbling blocks."
Every time you figure out how your world works, you're doing research. Whenever you discover how your characters think, you're doing research. It's a long voyage of discovery where your world and your characters reveal themselves to you so you can share them with others. I love research, but then I'm also a librarian. ;-)

OtherWorld Diner daily special - tomorrow!
Art work by Michael WhelanI'll be blogging again tomorrow and the topic for the week is what inspired us to write paranormal romance. My inspiration is Anne McCaffrey and Pern fiction. Anne has been writing about the Dragonriders of Pern® for forty years now. I only hope my work has that kind of longevity.
I loved her characters with all their warts and I loved her dragons. Visit my post tomorrow to find out more about how the Dragonlady has inspired my writing!

I joined a Group Blog - check it out!

One of the RWA chapters to which I belong is called FF&P: Futuristic, Fantasy & Paranormal. I met a group of likeminded ladies there who enjoy writing paranormal with a dash, or a LOT, or humor. We tossed the idea around today and decided to put together a group blog.
It sounded like a fun idea to do a group blog because then I'll only need to post every couple of weeks. I'm hooked up with a great bunch of writers! Please check out my blog over at The OtherWorld Diner tomorrow then let me know what you think. Look for future blog posts every two weeks, but feel free to visit the blog daily to read what my fellow writers have to say!
